After exploring numbers, I've concluded tentatively the answer is probably Diabolus. It has more health and better headbutt than a centipede, still gets 1/5 of its blaster, fire burst ability for melee, and it has the absolute fuck you of its hellsphere cannon for range and for breaching which is the main act of visiting new tiles. It's also the fastest of the lot (2.5c/s, beating 1.9 centipedes and 1.6 centurions/war queens), It still has faults, but it's probably the best in versatility.
