Slovak PM Robert Fico compared Ukraine to “grass” in a fight between “elephants,” saying, “Whether elephants fight or have sex, the grass always suffers. Whatever the outcome of the August 15 talks between the elephants, the grass—in this case, Ukraine—will suffer.” Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry condemned the remark, saying Fico still fails to grasp the real causes of Russia’s invasion and the dangers of flirting with an aggressor state.
