Since time immemorial. pious, modest, old housemakers did the patriarchy, every bit of it, and men had no contribution. And they did it flawlessly, and society worked. Not only that, they forced their daughters to marry ugly yet intelligent and successful men, like professors, accountants instead of strong chads.

Every bit of femininity and good manners women used to have was a consequence of emulating their grandmas, Who wouldn't never talk back, accept their role, crochet, read scripture and work tirelessly for the benefit of the family.
