Boomers rugged millennials on nightlife by cracking down so hard on drunk driving in the 90's and 2000's.
Boomers just drove to and from bars hammered and unless they were blatantly crossing the yellow, nobody cared. If they did get caught, they got locked up for the evening and basically a slap on the wrist.
Now driving under the influence is taboo and cops actively look out for it. If you get caught, you now have a criminal record, will likely have to pay up $10k-15k and lose your license for 6mo to a year, probably costing you your job, etc. It fucks you.
The point is, boomers had no issue living out in the burbs. Location didn't matter to them because they could drive anywhere they wanted, in any condition. But for millennials living in the burbs means you have basically no life unless you have a wife and kids.
So instead, millennials would rather buy apartments in cities, or at least near downtown strips. Instead of saving up for a house, they continuously pay ever increasing rent prices.
