hoyo is incapable of writing MCs that can stand their own in any way
the only sales tactic they know is "new 5 star saves the day"
and because they are so uninspired, they don't know how to execute aforementioned without making their MCs underpowered wet rags who have to get rescued from every situation

in pretty much any hoyo game the MC canonically is cosmically powerful and extra capable, yet in reality just gets kind of dragged along and into things with zero agency while getting their day saved by the latest 5 star on repeat
