As guests of Anglo Quakers that went over to Germany to find similar variants of Protestantism. There are no Germans in America of their own pioneering spirit, they were mostly sought because Quakers were pacifist that wanted more of the same but from Germany. You didn't actually do anything of value to conquer North America.
