If it's an ukie lie, it forces the snowgerians into a dilemma:
Lose face internally and externally, prove ukies correct, BUT free up spending to be embezzled elsewhere
OR
Go 'nuh uh' and waste even more on life support and/or trying to get the scrap floating again.
It'd be a lose-lose.
