iirc Ion was the GM of elitist jerks so he was decently good back in the day. The issue is he was promoted to leader of the entire team instead of a section that he was competent at (raiding). Why do you think WoW for the last decade and a half has been about rushing to endgame and leveling is just a shitty hurdle? Because you have a dev lead who's only given a shit about the endgame and now barely if at all plays (thus making it worse).
