Colony and Asylum are the two games with the most mazelike areas. He really does scale it back a whole lot in kludge onward. I feel like Innocent Rules had it basically just right, where the areas are open enough to have secrets everywhere, but they simultaneously never feel too big. Thirst was also pretty good for that in its entirety, especially the expansion.
