So the full story here is the dude visited, he was detained upon trying to enter the country and was questioned about violent extremism. They searched his belongings, asked him for the names, addresses and phone numbers of who he was going to visit, the passwords for his devices (which they then searched) and upon completing this they told him he would not be allowed to enter the country.
He later told a news paper that they kicked him out because of his JD Vance meme.
I read about it earlier today, according to the news report (some Irish news) when you read the series of events the phone search was one of the last things they did before denying him entry.
It sounded as if he was on a violent extremist watchlist, or had made contact with such people and was going to meet them.
