I'm like 70% sure that hoyo did a huge rewriting session after that columbina/backrooms fan animation dropped and became an instant hit, I genuinely did not expect them to lean into the spooky angel stuff otherwise. I know that the community painted her that way for a long time but I guess I just didn't see hoyo coming through with it.
That being said, I'm all for it.
