The whole idea that men must sacrifice came from 1900's feminism and other doctrines to benefit society with most men carrying the brunt of the deal. That's why most men were pissed off all the time in the 60's, 70's, etc.

Now that men don't really have to carry as much responsibility, they're more docile and relaxed, relegated to play video games and chill.
