From a designing standpoint, Musashi has the stand and Heracles had Megalos, so Karna having the LB4 costume gives him a huge edge in choice.
From powerlevel and swordsmanship he fits both.
And I actually prefer it this way. With Karna as a Grand Lancer some of my favorites can be argued there because they are really close to him in combat (like Siegfried being balanced with slightly worse skill but slightly better endurance). And you could also justify anyone else that got compared to Karna as worth of Grand spots like Arjuna, Gawain and others that clashed there.
