Greek was the second most spoken language in the medieval times and this might come as a shocker, but Skanderbeg was most certainly a polyglot. He spoke several languages and wrote latin and greek as a form of communication to other nations who most likely could understand and read it.
If I wrote you in albanian, would you have a lick of an idea what I even wrote? There weren't even translators who could translate albanian in 15th century contrary to latin or greek.

In reality, skanderbeg was most likely albanian-bulgarian descendent, stated by the only contemporary source Marin Barleti. Even that is questioned due to the slavicization of names of Skanderbegs maternal lineage.
