In the USA I bought my first SUV in 2012 X5. Then lx570, lexus lx570 twice more then nissan armada, qx80 and mercedes GLS63.
In Japan I havea toyota landcruiser 200 my favourite kind, ZX.
In the USA my 6000 pound car got some tax benefits because I was a business owner. I also needed it because I would buy alot of shit for my biz every week.
In the USA a huge car feels a lil big. On the highway and streets it was always fine just the parking lots sometimes you just park where it's easy. In DC, well it was hard to park of course.
But in Japan even with the smaller 4.7 literally V8 I am overpowered for every situation. I have one house in a mountain and the roads there are narrow. In Tokyo the roads are narrow. It's way too big.
So a big car is fine in the USA. It's safer. I had a gf once who's care was mangled by a senior truck accident. In general you are more visible in a huge suv and when it's new people don't want to hit you. Even when they key your car it's not that deep because they respect it.
In Japan, it's just too big. Too much attention if the car is brand new and shiny.
So my landcruiser zx has a TV when I drive, no refrigerated armrest and an extra tool box that has flares or a orange triangle. Maybe a fire extinguisher. Options that are missing include the extra sun visor and rear window shades. And it's right hand drive.
It also comes with remote start using a special phone shaped radio. No TV in the headrest
So Japanese cars made for Japan are small. But to be honest if I could do it again I would be rolling coal in a huge pickup because I can't do that here.
