He did it to prevent them from getting to close to attaining the atomic bomb. It wasn't to simply defend Israel. Iran had months to negotiate peace talks relating to their atomic bombs' near completion status, and they didn't even talk to us. We had no choice. Also, no one died from the attacks. This was a strategic attack to protect us all.
