I believe they should mostly be located in the eastern territories, as our remaining examples of these old semaphores cluster within the old German imperial borders and only saw replacement in the late 20th century. As far as I've seen and what have been told, some were instead retrofitted over the years with additional lights which proved to be an adequate solution even if somewhat antiquated by modern safety standards (if it works, it works).

This mindset I can understand with familiarity, regardless of being 4 generations removed from any nearest German ancestry.

If that manages to be a consistent pattern (beyond my experiences on the aforementioned route) despite all work on infrastructure appearing to the outside viewer as being completely functional and well-maintained, that is indeed an outrageous problem that needs to be investigated and addressed. Is there any book that I can read on the matter? We had one highlighting how much of a disaster the PKP became when the Beaching axe swung written by Karol Trammer, but I don't know if there is any similar critique that is published as this seems to be a subject too niche for book stores to display them openly. I care not if it is in German-only, I can relearn how to read it consistently again.
