our loss of shared culture and faith is the worst part of modern existence. i truly feel no connection to the world around me unless I am in nature or building something. nations are uninteresting, institutions are hollow, the people around me all seem as much and adversary as anything else, religion has been placed in the same position as philosophy, music and art are no longer beautiful and there are no more heroes. it's commodities all the way down.
