Loadouts aren't unneeded, but they're way overhyped.
HoYo is a company that crunched so much data on players for the Teyvat Times that the community got afraid.
The reality is that loadouts affect <1% of players so HoYo went for QoL changes that helped more players first before going for loadouts.

The people that constantly cry about loadouts are just using it as a figurehead topic for their displeasure with Genshin in general.
