I’ve been serving at this busy family diner for about 10 months and honestly, I’m getting fed up. I’m pulling five bucks on fifty-dollar checks, sometimes nothing at all, and I barely get any tables. My service is solid. I’m quick, accurate, and polite. I’ve changed the way I talk, adjusted my tone, tried being extra friendly, more laid-back, more upbeat. Nothing works. It’s starting to get in my head. Am I coming off rude without realizing it? Is it how I look or sound? I show up, I do my job right, and still get treated like I don’t matter. I’m tired of giving good service just to walk out with pocket change.
