You will be in good company - there's always plenty of wallflowers, plus plenty of people are around that would like to talk to you. Try hanging around in the con gathering space/lobby before the con starts and try to spark some conversation. Simple small talk to start a conversation can go a long way.

It's a big step to take, but you know how you sometimes you will see something going on and wonder to yourself "what if I got involved/joined in?" - but then decide not to for fear of something negative happening, or even just laziness and not wanting to put in the effort? At a con, if you see something interesting going on, take that opportunity and at least try to be a part - try to get that comment in on a conversation going on next to you - ask that guy you noticed with the cool thing a question. TL;DR - take a little initiative and get involved; while there are not guarantees every attempt will pan out, it will inevitably lead to opportunities opening up for you.

Like other anons have said, the inevitable "make some friends" panels are perfect for you, as it kickstarts interactions between you and everyone else.

And one last point, if you care to think about it like this: if you don't know anyone, there's not much risk in going for it. Nobody knows you - so take this opportunity to try being a "different"/more social self, and see if anything sticks.

Come take a step outside your comfort zone for a weekend and ave fun in good company, Anon.
