Because they were hot, the songs were awesome, and the animation was top notch. Also, they're just there to sing the praises of Hercules and be supportive of their relative (cousins thrice removed or some shit). It was Disney at its peak and they had great staff back then, actual writers. I don't necessarily have a problem with le wokeshit. I hate it when it is poorly done and looks UGLY. I think a lot of anons here are the same way.

Case in point, that animated Superman show with race-swapped Lois Lane. A recent example where nobody complained because they were too busy cooming to the tanned, short haired, tomboy Lois who looked amazing even if the show itself was mediocre. Nobody cared if she was Korean in this version. Nobody cared that Superman was a dweeb in this version. IT LOOKED GOOD. That's all everyone wants at the end of the day.

Live action Little Mermaid did NOT LOOK GOOD. The actress was UGLY, the lighting and cinematography was UGLY (like the rest of live action Disney adaptations), the songs were HORRIBLE (Awkwafina - need I say more). IT WAS SHIT ALL AROUND. IT WAS SHIT OBJECTIVELY. IT WAS LOW EFFORT SLOP CYNICALLY CAPITALIZING ON NOSTALGIA.
