it wouldn't be too out of place, while he is a major character in UT he also gets considerably less screentime than the others, and what screentime he does have gets technically shortened even further by making his most important character moments neutral route only, so it's technically possible to finish UT's True Pacifist route with just seeing him lead you to the barrier, aurafarm for his boss fight, get murked by Flowey and then get smacked by Toriel and sit in a corner
and it's that sliver of possibility that makes me stick around in expectation for there MAYBE being an upturn rather than just stick to my corner and paint myself a picture of UT!Asgore and Toriel working through their shit together
