This was pitched to tynan by the SOS2 devs. He rejected it so we won't be seeing odyssey 2 ever. Mods might do it in some way, but the engine isn't made for it so expect having to make a new world every time you want to travel between planets.
Tyler should move onto rimworld 2 after the diplomacy DLC where these mechanics would be possible.
