Haven't played 4 yet, but similarly in 1 it really fucking annoyed me how upset they were over Selvaria getting pushed a bit while getting arrested.
Like, she isn't some random soldier that probably has either no idea what's going on or was forced into frontlines against her will, nor is she some commander that technically didn't kill anyone.
She directly killed god knows how many with her superpowers, she inspired thousands of soldiers and told them to go into battles that killed hundreds and had literally zero remorse for Gallians and they're upset because she wasn't arrested softly enough (while even being heard out and her request accepted by the arresting commander).
Like, what the fuck.
I really love how they're way more upset at the guy who shot Alicia (I mean, the anger is justified don't get me wrong) with actual reasons and trying to save everyone including her with a risky plan, than a literal murder machine that tried to murder Alicia alongside everyone else just to kill her on multiple occasions.
And also speaking of that guy, what the fuck was up with the ending.
>Power is turned off so the villain is completely harmless
>Has no soldiers to rely on anymore
>Anyone can just shoot him since he's just a fucking human, they just want to take him alive
>The fucking guy who shot Alicia for some reason decides to do a noble sacrifice and kill himself to kill the bad guy, which is by that point already defeated and can't do shit so it accomplishes nothing, just makes the situation worse for zero reason
I liked the gameplay a bit but my God the writing in this was fucking abysmal.
