A lot of midwits think Nioh is good because of the allure of complexity with the stance system and ki pulses but in actuality, the game is really simple and most of the POTENTIAL complexity doesn't exist because most weapons don't actually have enough unique skills to fill out all of it's slots and even if you have a fair amount of skills, not all of them are gonna be that good or useful. Fists are the only weapon in all of Nioh that has a lot of unique skills and encourages you to use most of them. Yokai skills also to some degree trump normal weapon skills, which might not be directly from damage itself but the amount of ki damage while allowing you to recover your ki and being cancellable out of any of your attacks. you can really bully the shit out of most normal enemies this way in Nioh 2.
SoP actually has a realistically comparable level of complexity and I would argue the skill system has way more depth than the majority of Nioh weapon skills and the job system is a lot more game changing than individual stances in Nioh.
I like all of these games but the problem I have with Nioh fags is that they're posers. They put Nioh on a pedestal, wanking it off like it's some super well refined game and then proceed to shit on TNs future games because they have the perception that the games are less complexity instead of actually playing them and digging into it and discovering what makes them good.
Complexity =/= good game design
Nioh is not even that complex
SoP is literally as complex in many ways, while still retaining the same level of difficulty and having much more indepth, refined RPG mechanics that allow for a LOT of fun and unique builds.
