That supposed "no brainer" ship is 100% made up and actually makes less sense the more you understand the characters. Koju is into the occult, Higumin is 100% only into science and actively denies the existence of ghosts and astral projection etc. She like death and what happens around it on a scientific basis and would never accept Koju's nonsense. They also have like... no chemistry. Like at all. 99% of their interactions are Higumin saying something unhinged to someone else and Koju screeching. You think HiguIchi is annoying? HiguKoju is way worse. HiguIchi at least had great build up and you can tell Higumin genuinely enjoys being with Ichigo and messing with her. She also grows a lot thanks to Ichigo, as a person (also partially due to Yukki of course).
This event would have to pull heavy duty to do anything that will remotely shift perception from the pair the spares BS that is HiguKoju into an actual competent ship.

Actually no, she has shown tremendous development, both socially and in enjoying things (which according to her karma thing should not be possible). Play Wakki's latest memory episode. Higumin has become an apostle of lesbian love and seems to take a keen interest in it now. She even admits she has someone dancing in the palm of her hand and how it excites her (clearly Ichigo).
In my opinion Higumin is surprisingly very pliable after getting over her self-imposed karma block. Her researcher soul is spreading towards social topics and feelings.
