Always remember that Sonic Team was genuinely thankful towards Nintendo for signing them on the 3 game contract only for their console because ST didn't know if SEGA was going to give them the proper funding to make new games and Nintendo ultimately thought it was a loss because none of the games they made during the contract were good.
Nintendo was literally carrying Sonic as a franchise for like 6 fucking years before they eventually gave up due to ST's incompetence.
