artificially low rate environment of post-08 has favored large cap companies

small caps used to be better because they had more room to run, and you only needed a few to win out
good small cap indexes tended to grow faster than large too
small cap and large cap tend to trade out-performance every 10 years-ish though, so we're likely due for a new cycle at some point (maybe after the next recession)
if you're in this for the long game and mostly hodl-ing indexes, buying smaller caps while they're cheaper seems reasonable given how expensive most other things are
