How come there are posters who think the 14th amendment doesn't give birthright citizenship to aliens? It was duly noted and and the civil right act of 1866/14th amendment was voted against by large parts of congress and vetoed by andrew johnson for that reason and others. Many senators and representatives understood that the 14th amendment was spitting on the concept of a stable nation. Cowan's arguments in the debate against the citizenship clause sum it up very well.
