For Darumi's case, on top of her goofiness in most routes, it probably helps a ton that Retsnom writes her as very compassionate with Takumi. She really does go out of her way a lot to help Takumi, such as having him make up with Nozomi, helping him find a way to revive everyone, and taking on Retsnom herself. Takumi in turn starts spending a lot of time with her and getting to know who she is under the mask. Oh also, you can see her caring side even in other routes where she's not the main character. It's impressive that she's written as crazy as she is 80% of the time, but still has her real intentions just barely under the act.
They deserve a happier ending.
