Are these military ponchos any good at keeping you warm too or are they primarily designed as rainproofing?

I've got a wool poncho that I wear a lot during winter (S T R A Y A) but I'd be concerned wearing it out of the house because 1. it's wool, I don't want to get it wet and 2. look at the fuckin thing. At least a regular poncho would only have me flagged as autistic, this thing would make me look like an autistic wook trying to find the nearest Phish concert. It'd be nice to have something I can throw on when I walk 3 minutes to the store.
