Believe it or not, it's a lot easier than you think.
My dad died when I was 22. Mom lives overseas.
I was a NEET and had no income, got a temporary apartment the first month but got kicked out after that because "families go first".
Basically got told to sign in at the homeless shelter but it was always full (really small) so I slept wherever. Still had my basic bux (€400/month) so I could eat and get wasted but that was about it.
Took two years to find a cheap apartment due to the housing queue.
