Chris provides the most useful information and I'll try to add some context thereafter. The gist is Unreal 5 is hard. They've been working on some cool stuff but what they've got around the time of the video is the baseline they're feeling confident to move forward with. It has taken some time to get it all working and they're not ready to show what they have but it's "feeling" good enough to make a public announcement.

I don't know how relevant the old posts and systems found within are since they technically began on UE4 for this project. Presumably Kenshi 2 will still try to embrace some these new ideas they've already shown:
>grid-based, snappy furniture placement for interiors
>town districts for more intricate town setup & segmentation
>a totally reworked models & buildings systems
>much bigger map, 150% is the often touted number
>there are a growing list of hints that boats have become possible. my hunch is and based off external speculation the map was reworked in the last year, allowing the boat system to start functioning, open the proverbial floodgates to this video's creation

That said, if you read the news carefully you'll find missed promises like that of a proposed vertical slice reveal which hasn't occurred. Without beating the horse to death I again think Chris says it all with the placeholder state the second game supposedly is in right now. They might've been stuck on getting it all to work together, which it may be doing so now, which means release is...unannounced with no ETA.
