Any real quarrel belongs with those whose heavy handed gatekeeping sought to call certain beings a lost cause, and as you pointed out earlier, colonize/chattelize their charges in place of sincere uprearing.
Meanwhile, those who want to periodically question how many less people there are in the world than is actually reported have reason behind their wonder.
