I've done it a few times, usually I just explain what I need, then pitch the vehicle. I don't tell it that I'm doing it specifically in Heavy Gear because the AI is not good at understanding complex rulesets, so I build the vehicle in HG and then just describe it. Then the machine gives me some funny feedback, asking for water heaters in the crew compartments and arctic/jungle variants so that they can sell them to NATO allies or African warlords, Senator Blutfest just keeps trying to put a 120mm cannon on everything and wants it to be made in his district.
In this way I've started out with really clean, sleek and cheap vehicles and then had them froth over into ridiculous porkbarrel projects that serve no purpose except to waste taxpayer money. Then I put them in campaigns, and the players get to go "why the fuck is this thing so overbuilt it's got like 20 lemon dice," and I can grin inwardly and imagine this old fuck from Iowa cackling in Hell.
