I think they had amazing artists under their umbrella and brought in a lot more amazing artists through their amazing character designs. I like the Maki design, as the character got me interested in the fame pre-release that I had to get the game. In that sense it was a very successful character design. As for the SF3 characters, I wasn't too keen on them initially, but over time they really grew on me. Capcom has always identified characteristics that I didn't know I'd like but they did beforehand, setting the trends and concepts that is totally to my liking.
