"I have a proposition." Kaus Gammamon interrupts. He gently sets a hand on Wind's shoulder, to stop him from gritting his teeth hard enough to vibrate their textures.
"You are correct in assuming that we would like your presence for this mission, Phascomon and Marnie. Yet Phascomon has brought up the fact that you are not obliged to accompany us, as this is a deliverable that we owe you. Please consider the following: We do not know what form this data will take, nor if it is even in a transferable format."
"Hey, that's true..." ToyAgumon mumbles.
"It would not do to have us infiltrate this deeply, only to realize that the format the data takes is incompatible with our transport methods. Nor can we take every possible contingency for that possibility without prior information. As such, I would like to propose that you accompany us not as a teammate, but as a V.I.P." He finishes.
"V.I.P?" Wind asks, raising an eyebrow at his partner.
"Hey, yeah! I like the sound of that. No being bossed around. We just follow along, mind our own business, and then we snag the data. What do you think, Marnie?"
You think about what you've learnt from Doc. He harvested Mekanorimon's data using his Digivice's scan function, then implanted it in his own partner. You're not sure if the Digivices owned by the Dogs of War have such an ability. Wind and Squid have proper ones, with colored cases and blocky displays, but the rest have junk docks held together with circuit boards and electrical tape. You might be needed to grab the Digi-DNA in the first place.
At the same time, you don't want to set a precedent that they can stiff you like this. They said they'd deliver, they owe you a finished product. You don't need to go along for the ride.
