I believe there is a visual cue that is supposed to suggest Epstein and Maxwell. At Ziegler's party when Alice walks off to go to the bathroom there is a an intentional continuity error where a woman walking with a silver haired man who looks a bit like Epstein transforms into a woman who looks very much like Maxwell.
