I'm just plucking slowly away at a kiseki like
You can't truly move on from this sort of thing if you want to care. Some people turn to fan works. Personally I love those, but for me, what matters is creative spark. It would be very difficult to fix kiseki from the ground up. To make a setting good you need for lack of a better term, an esoteric almost schizophrenic passion. You need to have a bed rock or DNA that creates the foundation for characters, roles, storylines, and mcguffins that feel natural. And above all you can't have any cynicism. This is part of why so much by the numbers content is dogshit. It's made by cynics who don't believe in what they're doing. They just want you to buy in. Once you have passion, you can create a masterpiece or you can create "the room" but never anything in-between.
