>How then can God be both merciful *and* just?
Simple. Imagine all the handicaps were given to you because without them you would have been worse. You can not understand without understanding how God is outside of time. Time is local to this universe. When Jesus healed the cripple at the J-town waterpark for healing and relaxation, the next words to him after he saw him was to basically, congrats now stop sinning. Maybe leftists have shitty lives because God knows what they were like when they had any measure of power, the thing they crave most. Anyhoo, it is out of our pay grade, but behave like you will never want to sin again and watch how your timeline(s) change for the better. If God wants you to grow in spirit, perhaps giving you hardship is the best way. Maybe you need humbling to ever get out of your false entitlement of a servant being greater than its master. If you are a creation, your spirit is really the only thing of value to you after the material world disappear with death or otherwise. So grow it accordingly. Jesus alone has taught you how.
