The scare around sneed oils is a hoax. All the health outcome studies consistently show better health outcomes with sneed oils vs lard/butter/tallow. I've been trying to find where this scare came from and ended up finding the Fat Head documentary which seems to be the origin. It makes a lot of claims that aren't true and he misses the point why his blood lipids improve, it's not because of his diet but because he lost weight and started exercising (which are both known to improve blood lipids). He also went from overweight to... still being overweight IIRC. The more you weigh the easier it is to shed excess weight. He's also jewish if that interests you and talks about passover in the documentary.
The other thing is that processed foods both have a lot of seed oils and saturated fats, and most people are getting their seed oils from processed food, which in turn has a lot of other added bullshit including refined carbs / sugar and way too much oils, fats and salt. We see consistently that processed foods are very bad for your health, but oils on their own do not have this association, they're even beneficial if you replace fats high in saturated fats with polyunsaturated fatty acids (oils). Unless someone can show me HEALTH OUTCOME studies that prove the contrary I'll continue to believe that this scare is complete bullshit.
