Thisdesu, I think because SURVEY_PROGRAM being Deltarune Ch 1 was meant to be a twist, Toby had to make it feel like a full game and that meant Susie had to go through a whole arc in a short amount of time.
When ch1 existed in a vacuum, it was to subvert expectations and throw what we knew about Undertale out the window. But as the game gets longer, ch1 starts to feel more rushed and it sucks that it didn't get reworked to fit better with the rest of the game(not that it's a bad chapter at all, just that the problems are getting more noticeable).

the eggs are too obscure to lock a bunch of content behind (especially chapter 3's, why the fuck is it so convoluted when chapter 4's is the easiest)
