>At the start of production there were disagreements between Sony and Marvel Studios in what direction to go next. Marvel Studios wanted to do a more street level movie while Sony wanted to get bigger and outdo the previous film.
>An early pitch for the movie would've revolved around Spider-Man teaming up with Daredevil to stop Mayor Fisk after he outlaws vigilantes but was discarded as Feige didn't like the idea of connecting it so closely to a TV-MA Disney+ show.
>Sony wanted to bring back Toby and Andrew for the sequel and use their own Marvel characters like Tom Hardy's Venom and Miles Morales in a multiverse spanning movie where they would fight an all powerful villain like Knull but Marvel Studios was very against that believing they needed to deliver on the promise of No Way Home's ending.
>Sony ultimately agreed to doing a "street level" movie on the condition that they released the film in close proximity to Doomsday to build off the Avengers crossover's popularity to compensate for the smaller scale similar to Far From Home with Endgame.
