Why don't you guys replace your old trains?
Here in Moscow, I often take short 1 - 2h rides out of the city on these https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivolga_(train) commuters.
The design itself is barely a decade old, and there were already 3 updates, last version (Ivolga 4.0) has stuff like wireless charging built into every little window-mounted table (pic, more of a cup holder really).
If we can afford this despite everything that happened (and keeps happening) surely you can.
