Is there any actual reason anime companies and especially toei just seem so creatively devoid? Every single movie is in some way analogous to events from the manga with very few exceptions, and the less involvement toriyama had the more copy pasted the plots and villains were. Sometimes it’s genuinely just beat for beat an element of the previous arc, every movie has an almost identical formula too. The filler like garlic junior also traces the movies which were a trace of the manga in the first place. It seems so soulless and bizarre to me, none of the movies or fillers really ever experiment or attempt anything that isn’t just an aesthetic reworking of what has been done, which is a shame because the designs are often cool. Look at janemba, he’s just fat buu and then kid buu. How fucking braindead can you get?
