I can't help but feel like this is partly karma for him being an arrogant asshole at times.

Still any time someone is like "I'm retiring from art... :(" I know they will eventually be fucking back unless they die. They may change subject matter, they may only share in some private hole in the wall of the internet, but they cannot help but make art.
