The original Utawarerumono was an eroge. When it got popular they removed all the sex scenes and ported it to consoles.
Like a decade later they made two sequel games (Mask of Deception and Mask of Truth) that were All Ages from the start, and a proper All Ages remake of the first game - Prelude to the Fallen, that's the one Koyori is playing right now.
It's honestly a lot better of All Ages. The ero in the original was by far the worst part of the game. Basically a bit after where Koyori is at right now Hakuowlo forms at army to take over the surrounding nations, the excuse for 90% of the sex scenes is him providing moral support to the female fighters and it almost always comes across as extremely rapey and incredibly out of character.
The creators were pretty much forced to add the sex scenes since at the time nobody thought a purely story focused VN would sell copies. Utawarerumono is one of the first games that proved that idea VERY wrong when it got incredibly popular off of its writing and world building, in a way it was what laid the path for All Ages VNs to hit the limelight. It's a pretty important title in that way.
