So long as it presents the wealthy with the potential for a future where they don't have to pay any of their "employees" it'll never be meaningfully legislated against. There's also, perhaps more importantly, the defense argument that, "If we don't develop the world's strongest, smartest, most deadly AI then our adversaries will" which is why Trump's big beautiful bill prevents any AI regulations for the next decade.
