Running something every week is fine if it’s rewarding, and more importantly fresh. The current gear treadmill is stale as fuck and outside of parsing better or gearing for the ultimates most people don’t touch, there’s nothing incentivizing people to do weekly content.
One and dones are fine in theory, if Square pushed out content faster. But instead we get forms of content that are almost dead on arrival because the player base knows it’s either unsyncable an expansion later or that square will drop support for it in favor of another failed project.
